Indiana Department of Transportation announced Ind. 15, Fisher Avenue in Claypool, will be closed Monday at 9 a.m. to accommodate replacement of the bridge over the Norfolk Southern Railroad, approximately four miles north of Ind. 14. The bridge required rehabilitation for continued safety to the traveling public. The new bridge design will improve sight distance for better safety at CR 700S intersections, which are just north and south of the bridge. Additionally, added height to the new bridge design increases safety for the railroad as well as motorists. There are two official detours. One begins at U.S. 30, to Ind. 13, to Ind. 14. The other begins at U.S. 30, to Ind. 19, to Ind. 14. The detours are about 27 miles. The contract for the project was awarded to Phend and Brown, based on the low bid of $4 million. Work is scheduled to finish by Sept. 1.
