Lane restrictions on Ind. 15 and North Detroit Street will not be removed today as planned due to recent rains.
There will be two to three days of joint sealing needed to finish the project, according to Stacie McCormick, Fort Wayne district public information officer for Indiana Department of Transportation.
INDOT has been repairing the cracked concrete on North Detroit Street since June 19.
Brooks Construction Co., Fort Wayne, is the contractor for the project.
"The joints have to be dry and its takes awhile for that to happen with the overnight and early morning rains we have had the last couple of days," McCormick said.
She said the pavement has condensation due to the humidity and heat, creating a longer drying period.
"The contractor has not been able to start work until afternoons due to this condition, although they have been working until dark trying to get done," she said.
The contractor hopes to remove the barrels Saturday, weather permitting.
"Workers are doing the best they can and we are encouraging drivers to be patient," said Warsaw Street Superintendent Lacy Francis.
