Indiana Department of Transportation announced work on the Ind. 15 project will shift into another phase of construction Friday. The phase will be more focused on the northwest and northeast corners of the Detroit Street intersection, according to an INDOT press release.
Work will continue at the Buffalo Street intersection, but will be focused primarily behind the new curbs.
Weather permitting, the construction phase is scheduled to last through July 6. The most notable change is that no designated southbound left-turn lane will be in place for Detroit Street north of Winona Avenue.
Southbound Ind. 15 and Detroit Street turning traffic and through traffic approaching Winona Avenue will share the same lane at the signal.
There will be no designated turn lanes for the westbound Winona Avenue traffic between the railroad crossing and Detroit Street.
The same restrictions will continue at the Buffalo Street intersection. Traffic will be restricted to one 12-foot lane for northbound traffic and one 12-foot lane for southbound traffic. Periodic flagging operations will be a part of the phase in the project.
INDOT advises motorists to slow down and take caution while driving through work zones.
