Ind. 13, CR 33 To Close At U.S. 6 For Roundabout Construction Starting Friday

ELKHART COUNTY – Contractors for the Indiana Department of Transportation will close Ind. 13 and CR 33 at U.S. 6 in Elkhart County for construction of a roundabout as part of a $2.6 million project to improve safety and traffic flow in the area.

The closure will begin on or after Friday and the intersection is expected to reopen by the end of September. During the closure, the official state highway detour will follow U.S. 6, Ind. 15 and U.S. 30. U.S. 6 will remain open in both directions during construction.

The roundabout is part of Gov. Eric Holcomb’s Next Level Roads plan, a fully-funded, data-driven investment in Indiana’s transportation infrastructure that was implemented in 2017. Next Level Roads dedicates more than $60 billion to construction and maintenance projects for the next 20 years to improve and maintain state highways, projects and future plans.
