Continuously serving Kosciusko County since 1854
NORTH WEBSTER - Three of North Webster's officeholders lost out Monday.
The North Webster Republican convention had 130 voters present, with 73 of them casting their vote for Lisa Strombeck Francis. She will be the Republican candidate for the town's clerk-treasurer in the fall election. Incumbent Peg Lawrance received 57 of the votes.
Eight people sought the town council seats, including incumbents Kay Andrews, Ken Wagner and Jeff Morgan. However, the convention chose to name Jon Sroufe (98 votes), Andrews (62 votes) and John Routh (45 votes) as the Republican candidates. All three of the chosen town council candidates face Democrat opposition in the fall election, according to Mark Grady, Republican Party town chairman.
The other candidates included Travis Marsh, Dan Thystrup and Burdette "Tony" Strombeck.
Grady said the convention "went well."
