AKRON - Ina M. Davis, 87, of 601 E. Rochester St., Akron, died at 10:12 p.m. Sept. 5, 2009, in Life Care Center of Rochester, following an illness since December 2008.
She was born March 4, 1922, in Carbarnear, New Finland, to William Bond and Martha Mahany Taylor. On Sept. 6, 1940, she married Francis C. Davis, who died July 6, 2008.
Living in Akron since 1963, she graduated from St. Johns High School, New Finland. She met and married her husband while he was serving in the U.S. military and became a housewife and homemaker. She was a former member of Moose Auxiliary, Rochester.
Surviving are two sons, Francis R. "Butch" (and spouse Wanda) Davis, Akron, and William H. Davis, Jeffersonville; a brother, Gordon (and spouse Shirley) Taylor, Blairsville, Ga.; three sisters, Nora (and spouse Bud) Davis, Warsaw, and Joan (and spouse Dave) Broomfield and Rosa (and spouse Joe) Butler, all of St. Johns, New Finland; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, George and Ray Taylor; and a granddaughter, Amy Katherine Davis.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Earl-Love Funeral Home, 811 E. Rochester St., Akron. Burial will be in Akron Cemetery.
