Editor, Times-Union: You and your readers have doubtless heard recently from Washington that after fighting the idea for a long time the first shot was recently fired in the U.S. House of Representatives by Rep. Walter Jones of North Carolina. (My wife and I were in North Carolina last week. Beautiful!!) Looks like our president, who seems not to know how much a trillion dollars is, will finally be “impeached.” “Expressing the sense of Congress that the use of offensive military force by a president without prior and clear authorization of an Act of Congress constitutes an impeachable high crime and misdemeanor under Article II, Section 4 of the Constitution.” It seems to many of us that there are lots of deceptions and crimes against our president that are more hurtful and grievous than that, but that one is very specific. So, we must start somewhere! He has talked and acted like a dictator from the start, like bankrupting our grandchildren for the forseeable future to that seemed to many of us “old timers” “buying” his way into office not once, but twice! Which in reality is the fault of those who voted for him even more than he. So if “repentance” is called for, there will be plenty of that to go around ...f or lots of us, the people! R.
