Imogene Palmer

HUNTINGTON - Imogene Palmer, 90, of Barbee Lakes, Warsaw, died at 6:35 a.m. Jan. 18, 2009, in her residence.

She was born June 15, 1918, to Peter and Addie Snyder Amick. On July 2, 1944, she married Glenn "Archie" Palmer, who survives.

She attended Clear Creek School; graduated from Huntington High School in 1937; attended Michael Reese School of Nursing; graduated from Huntington College in 1941 with a degree in secretarial science; and earned a bachelor's degree in history and English with a minor in business education from Huntington College in 1944. She taught four years at Jefferson Township High School in Adams County. She was secretary to the registrar at Huntington College from 1952-68, and was registrar from 1968-97. In 1997, she was named Registrar Emeritus of Huntington College. She was a member of Indiana and American Associations of Collegiate Registrars and Admission Officers; American Business Women's Association; Altrusa Club International; and was a member of the Board of Directors of Northern Indiana Health Systems Agency. She was active in the Methodist Women and the Salvation Army. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Warsaw.

Also surviving are a son, Steve (and spouse Linda) Palmer, Howe. She was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers, Dale, Harry, George and Ralph Amick.

A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Mt. Hope Cemetery, 1700 W. Park Drive, Huntington, with the Rev. David Overmyer officiating.
