An Illinois man was arrested in Chicago late Thursday morning on charges of molesting a child in Warsaw.
Gabriel Sanchez Jr., 23, of Chicago, was arrested at his residence by Chicago Police Officers who served a child molesting warrant from Kosciusko County.
A Warsaw elementary school counselor contacted the Warsaw Police Department Jan. 4 after a student at the school told her about a sexual abuse situation.
After watching a "Good Touch, Bad Touch" video at school, the student, a 9-year-old female, reported the alleged abuse.
The student said Sanchez, a relative, forced her out of her home after a New Year's Eve party and walked her down an alley near the home.
She said Sanchez held her down on a sidewalk behind a neighbor's home, fondled her and forced her to have intercourse.
The counselor reported what the girl said to Kosciusko County Child Protective Services.
Sanchez currently is in a holding facility in Chicago and will stay there until an extradition hearing is complete.
The incident remains under investigation by the Warsaw Police Department.
