IHSCGA Groups To Compete At WCHS

Posted
Warsaw Community High School will host the Indiana High School Color Guard Association competition on Feb. 15.

In a competition of skill, choreography and visual thrills set to music, 26 area color guard units will be traveling to WCHS to perform. IHSCGA showcases the talents of students competing in winter guard, according to a provided news release.

Winter guard is practiced and performed in a gymnasium and has become a combination of dance, cheerleading and equipment maneuvers. Guards utilize music, props, tarps and equipment, along with uniforms and makeup to convey a theme for their show.

Routines are between four and seven minutes in length.

Winter guard combines athletic skill with a musical and dramatic performance.

Guards compete in different levels: Cadet, Festival, Regional A, A, Open or World Class. Color guard units may compete with five to 40 participants regulated by class levels.

Groups are judged on equipment, movement, design and general effect.

The first performance begins at noon, with doors opening at 10:30 a.m.

Admission cost is $7 per person, $3 per child age 5 or younger and free admission for infants (in lap). Tickets will be sold at the Performing Arts Center entrance in the ticket booth. Warsaw band boosters will be selling concessions.
