INDIANAPOLIS — Local resident Gene Butts will become a member of the Indiana High School Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame Friday. The induction of Butts, along with Jack Campbell, Kenny Lofton, David Niehaus and Billy McCool, will take place Friday in Indianapolis. A 1948 Beaver Dam graduate, Butts umpired for over 55 years, working 35 sectional, 24 regionals, 17 semistates and eight state finals. Named the IHSAA’s Umpire of the Year in 2000, Butts also worked college games for 45 years.
