Continuously serving Kosciusko County since 1854
Icy roads caused by the year's first winter storm are cited as the main reason for many accidents in the county Sunday.
Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department responded to 54 vehicular incidents Sunday - 21 slideoffs, 28 property damage accidents, two minor personal injury accidents and three other accidents.
To prevent these weather-related collisions, Sheriff Aaron Rovenstine warns people to be extra careful when weather is bad.
"The best thing to do is slow down and give yourself more time to get where you're going," Rovenstine said. "Also, be aware of other drivers."
He also recommended drivers make sure their windows are fully defrosted to ensure the fullest view of the road.
