LEESBURG – Icy roads led to two accidents on Ind. 15 this morning, one causing injury. Angela M. Frost, 40, of CR 425W, Claypool, was northbound on Ind 15 near Leesburg when she lost control of her red 1998 Chevrolet utility truck on the ice-covered road. The truck skidded over the center line and into the southbound lane. The second driver, Khristopher M. Freed, 30, of Nappanee Street, Nappanee, was driving a black 2004 Chevrolet utility truck when he saw Frost travel into his lane. Freed attempted to avoid Frost’s truck but slid on the ice-covered road. Frost’s right front corner of her truck struck Freed’s right front corner. Freed’s vehicle left the roadway and struck an earthen embankment. Frost’s truck came to rest in the middle of Ind. 15, facing west. Freed sustained a large laceration to the right side of his scalp and was transported to Kosciusko Community Hospital. Frost had no visible injuries and refused treatment. While this occurred, a second accident took place as Christopher A. Blake, 38, Main Street, Warsaw, stopped his northbound white 2002 Ford box truck to avoid the Frost/Freed accident, and was struck from behind by Keith J. Vuittonet, 26, of U.S. 30, Pierceton. Vuittonet saw Blake stop and attempted to break and his blue 2000 Plymouth SUV slid straight, continuing north. Vuittonet then let off the brakes and attempted to steer the vehicle to avoid collision, but the vehicle was unresponsive. His vehicle sustained heavy front end damage. Both Blake and Vuittonet refused treatment. Damages for each accident were estimated at $10,000 to $25,000 each. Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department investigated.
