A fundraiser to collect canned goods for those less fortunate in the community is planned next month.
A "Strike Out Hunger, Spare A Can" fundraiser will be May 23 from 1 to 4 p.m. at Northside Lanes, 1535 N. Detroit St., Warsaw.People of all ages are asked to bring as many canned goods as possible to the fundraiser. Free shoe rental and free bowling is available.
This is the first year for the fundraiser that was started by event organizer Clark Shepherd.
"People are encouraged to come out and bowl for as long as they want, and don't have to be part of a group to participate," Shepherd said.
The canned goods will be donated to local service agencies including Our Father's House, Combined Community Services and the Salvation Army.
