‘Humor’ Spells Victory For Romine; Runner-Up Christopher Alonzo

‘Humor’ Spells Victory For Romine; Runner-Up Christopher AlonzoAlyssa Romine is the new spelling bee champion at Pierceton Elementary School. Romine successfully spelled the word "humor" to win the bee in the 12th round.
The runner-up was Christopher Alonzo. Alonzo is tasked with filling in for Romine in the event that she cannot represent PES at the next competition held at the county level, according to a news release from Whitko Community School Corporation.
Both students received certificates, as well as medallions, to commemorate their victory. PES' bee began with twenty students in all; 10 from fifth grade and 10 from the sixth grade.
PES' principal Michele Smith called out each word for students to spell. Smith also assisted students by fielding questions specifically related to each word that may be spelled. Tasha Kinney, Dana Clutter, and Anne Clark judged the competition, stated the release.
Lastly, PES wishes to congratulate all of the competitors who participated in the annual spelling bee for thier dedication to spelling and for the countless hours each student spent in study for the competition, stated the release.
