Humbling Ourselves

Posted
Editor, Times-Union:
This is a thumbs up for Ron Ogden in his article (A Nation At Risk) in Wednesday’s (Oct. 26, 2016) paper.
I really appreciated your article and agree with you wholeheartedly. I would just like to comment on some of the recent experiences I have had in some recent gatherings of God's people I have been so blessed to attend and participate in.
On Oct. 14 I went to the Tenth Avenue North, Hawk Nelson and Dan Bremmes concert hosted at County Line Church of God in Auburn. What a night of praise and worship with all ages of people there. What I appreciated about it was how there was a point in the concert where we were encouraged to not put our faith in politics and outcomes of elections but in God alone and that we need to  pray and participate as Christians in the upcoming election process by voting.
On Oct. 23 I went to the Big Daddy Weave, Plumb, and We Are Messengers concert hosted at Grace College’s Manahan Center in Winona Lake. This was truly another  awesome night of praise and worship,  with similar political comments made, with the emphasis on God being in control  and that it is He who sets up, and brings down  rulers, leaders and that we need to participate by humbling ourselves, repentance and prayer and participation.
Then finally on Oct. 25, 2016, I went to the Chris Tomlin  Worship night  a special  event held for  Unity and Prayer for America, held at a packed Madison Square Garden Arena shown all across our nation in hundreds if not thousands of  theatres and churches. Chris Tomlin, Phil Wickham, Matt Redman, along with other contemporary groups, led worship songs; featured speakers were Max Lucado, Louie Giglio emphasizing our dependance on God, humbling ourselves, repentance of sins and calling on God to bring unity to our country. Nearly everyone in the packed Fort Wayne Theatre got on their knees as best they could along with other believers all across this nation in special prayer for America. Prayer was made specifically for President Obama, Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton.
I have been very encouraged by what I see going on in God's church all across this nation. May God heal and unite our nation once again in a way like never before.
