If any of you readers out there are like me, you are tired of politicians. Unfortunately, that is all we seem to be hearing about these days from every angle of the media. We cannot seem to escape it.
And if any of you are like me, you are just plain weary of the whole governmental process and wonder if anything will ever change. Our representatives in public office don't seem to listen to the very people they are supposed to represent. They, too, quickly forget to do the job that they were elected to do in the first place, which is, at the least, to listen to their public and then represent that public to the best of their abilities.
As I am sure you know and are probably weary of hearing about, we have another presidential election in the fall of 2008. There are more than enough candidates to choose from, but I have found one whom I have grown to deeply appreciate and admire. The candidate about whom I refer is former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee.
He is running his campaign in ways that I have never seen a presidential campaign run. He is speaking in ways that I have never heard a presidential candidate speak. He, along with his campaign, has made a commitment to not do any negative advertising or attacking of their opponents and they are staying the course.
Mike is a candidate who says what he is going to do and does it wholeheartedly. Mike is a man of integrity. I have observed him in several different interviews over several months. He has been asked the same questions over and over again and his answers have always been consistent. Mike is solid in what he believes. He does not play the politically correct game. His campaign is about standing firm on what one believes and then living it out.
Now, having said this, I will mention that Mr. Huckabee is not perfect. He is not God and is not running for God. He is a man just like the rest of us, and therefore, he will have his faults. However, I have observed Mr. Huckabee to be a man who wants to be held accountable for his words and his actions. This is the kind of man I want for president.
