SYRACUSE -ÊThe Wawasee boys basketball team snapped a nine-game losing streak with a 69-65 Northern Lakes Conference win over Northridge Saturday. The game marks Wawasee's first NLC win.

At the half, Northridge held a 32-30 lead, but Wawasee outscored the Raiders 39-33 in the second half to get the win.

Wawasee's Andrew Packer led all scorers with 22 points, while teammate Justin VanLue added 14. Scott Beasley chipped in 11 for the Warriors.

Wawasee is 4-11 overall and 1-5 in the NLC, while Northridge falls to 6-10 and 1-5 in NLC play.

Saturday in Denver

The Whitko boys basketball team traveled to Denver Saturday to face Three Rivers Conference opponent North Miami. The Wildcats improved to 3-3 in the conference with the 64-60 win over the Warriors.

Whitko was down 27-22 going into halftime, but a 19-8 surge in the third quarter helped the Wildcats secure a victory.

Adam Wendel and Alex Frantz led the Whitko squad with 18 points each, while Josh Hoffman added 12.

North Miami's Matt Deeds led all scorers with 24 points.

Whitko improves to 8-7 overall, while North Miami falls to 7-8 and 2-4 in TRC play.

Five Triton players scored in double figures and a sixth just missed out as Triton crushed LaVille.

Triton improves to 10-4 overall and 4-1 in the Northern State Conference, while LaVille falls to 3-10 overall and 1-4 in the NSC.

Jake Burnett led Triton with 18 points and was followed by Steven Boyer with 16, Joey Potter with 15, Ben Moore with 12, Jim Read with 10 and Eric Disher with nine.

After leading 42-31 at halftime, Triton blew the game open by outscoring LaVille 31-8 in the third quarter to take a 73-39 lead.

Triton hit 11 of 17 three-pointers (65 percent) and outrebounded LaVille 31-14. Burnett hit 4 of 5 three-pointers, and Boyer hit 4 of 6.

It is the second time this season Triton has beaten LaVille. The teams met in the Caston Tournament in December, and Triton won 90-75.

Manchester's boys basketball team survived a scare by edging Northfield, a team with two wins, on Saturday.

Nate Kerr and Klint Rupley each scored 10 for Manchester. Northfield lost by two despite committing 20 turnovers to Manchester's seven. Kyle Merrick led Northfield with 16 points.

Manchester improves to 9-6 overall and 4-2 in the Three Rivers Conference, while Northfield falls to 2-12 overall and 0-5 in the TRC.
