RICHMOND, Va. – Howard K. Apeland, 85, of Glen Allen and formerly of Warsaw, passed away peacefully Nov. 17, 2013. He was married to his loving wife, Mary, who preceded him in death. He was a veteran and enjoyed a long career in management at R.R. Donnelley. In 2002, he moved from Warsaw to Richmond and spent the next eight years taking care of his wife, Mary, who had Alzheimer's. Surviving are four children: Tom (and spouse Jeanne) Apeland, Rochester, N.Y.; Kathy (and spouse Walter) Green, Richmond, Va.; Nancy (and spouse Dan) Berkey, San Diego, Calif.; Rick (and spouse Euphemia) Apeland, Singapore; and eight grandchildren: Tracy and Kerry Apeland, Elizabeth and Meredith Green, Chris and Katie Berkey, and Keira and Abigail Apeland. Services will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Bliley’s-Staples Mill, 8510 Staples Mill Road, Richmond. Calling is from 2 to 3 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
