The Warsaw Housing Authority has been awarded a $300,000 grant by Indiana Housing Finance Authority to continue the Owner-Occupied Rehab Program.
This is the second grant the housing authority has received. The first program was highly successful and will be phased out by December.
Because of the great interest generated among homeowners the first time, the authority already has 12 families on its waiting list.
The grant will be used to work on 17 to 20 houses. The program is available to homeowners in Warsaw who occupy the home and are in the low to moderate income bracket.
The program provides repairs that will improve the integrity of the home. They have done everything from roofs to furnaces to foundations.
The Housing Authority also introduced Chris Cessna, the new program coordinator for Section 8 rental assistance program. She formerly worked for the Solid Waste Management District in Warsaw.
