Warsaw's growth and industry have attracted the attention of two companies that are planning to build suite hotels in the area.
Details for a new Hampton Inn & Suites hotel to be built near Center Center were laid out at a press conference at the ViewPoint this morning. Developed by Ralph M. Williams and Associates, the three-story facility will feature 106 rooms, gift shop, fitness center, large meeting room and an indoor-outdoor swimming pool.
The hotel will include 27 two-room guest suites with full kitchens. Five of those will have jacuzzis and fireplaces.
Ralph Williams, the owner of the development firm, said ground preparation and construction will begin this fall, with the hotel's opening scheduled for mid-1997.
The completed Hampton Inn will employ approximately 30 to 35 local people in mostly full-time positions, he said.
Room rates are not yet set, said Brent Williams, senior vice president in charge of hotel operations, but they are expected to be competitive.
"We believe in providing a product that is the finest in the community and it will be priced appropriately," he said.
The company's total investment in the facility, including construction costs, equipment and furnishings, but not including the cost of the land, is between $4.24 million and $5.09 million, Williams said.
He said Hampton Inns is the fastest growing chain "in that segment" in the country, with 350 inns now and five to six being added each week.
A second suite hotel, part of a 20-acre development at the corner of U.S. 30 and CR 250E, will include 100 rooms and is being developed by Lake City Development and Focus Enterprises Inc.
Construction is slated to begin on the Holiday Inn Express & Suites in mid-October, and the opening is anticipated around the middle of May.
The Holiday Inn also will feature two-room suites, including mini-bars, refrigerators and microwaves; a large indoor swimming pool; and a fitness room.
Both new hotels will provide complimentary continental breakfasts.
