Hugh McCulloch became treasury secretary when the outcome of the Civil War was still uncertain. Speaker Brad Skiles will give a presentation about this Indiana man Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Warsaw Community Public Library. McCulloch was in banking 28 years prior to public service. He began his banking career as cashier, then manager of the Fort Wayne branch of the state chartered Bank of Indiana and president of the larger organization from 1835 to 1857, and president of its successor, the privately owned Bank of Indiana, from 1857 to 1863.
