Hood Scores 33 In LCA Win

Aaron Hood scored the first 14 points for Lakeland Christian Academy's basketball team as the senior guard had another outstanding performance in LCA's 61-47 Monday win over Ft. Wayne Christian. Hood scored 33 points on the night and had five rebounds and five assists. Tim Buckholtz added 19 points.

Lakeland used a strong first quarter perfomance to put the game out of reach. The Cougars held a 21-5 lead after one quarter and never looked back. The win moves the Cougar record to 5-7. Lakeland will next face Community Baptist at home on Tuesday night with the junior varsity game starting at 6:30 p.m.

Lighthouse Christian Academy's varsity boys basketball team defeated Heritage Academy of Kokomo 53-50 Monday. Lighthouse trailed 32-30 at halftime and 39-38 after three quarters of play before outscoring Heritage 15-11 in the final frame. Nick Spangle led Lighthouse in the scoring column with 20 points. Brandon Fannin added 19 points in the win.

Lakeland Christian Academy's girls basketball team picked up its second win of the season with a 37-24 victory over Portage Christian. The Cougars are now 2-8 overall. LCA was led in the scoring column by Kari Grossnickle's 15 points. Sarah Haupert added 13 points in the win.

Monday in North Manchester

Manchester's boys swim team picked up a 108-62 home win over Columbia City Monday. The Squires took first-place finishes in nine of the evening's 12 events. Reed Christiansen set a school record in diving with a 317.45. This was the first time a Squire had topped the 300-point barrier.

Monday in Rochester

Tippecanoe Valley's boys and girls bowling team competed against Peru in Rochester Monday, and both teams were defeated 20-0. Ryan Perry led the Valley boys in the first game with a 135. Kraig Klemons bowled a 173 in the second game for the Vikings. Kristin Clemons tallied a 115 in the girls' first game. Melissa Baker bowled a 121 in the girls' second game.
