This is in response to the flagrantly homophobic letter on Sept. 16.
My husband did a six-month stint as an extern at a mental hospital. The first few days he was there he could not understand why some people were there as they seemed lucid, rational when he talked to them. But he soon learned they were as sane as those on the street except for one subject and then they were off-the-wall lunatics. Those who view the human condition through a very small periscope are a menace to society at large and need to be recognized as such.
