Hog Roast, Other Events Set in Silver Lake

SILVER LAKE – Several events are coming up in Silver Lake in October.

Hog Roast
The Silver Lake Volunteer Fire Department will host a hog roast fundraiser Oct. 27 from noon to 5 p.m. or until sold out.

Dedication of the firefighters monument will be at noon, with food served after.

Cost is $7 for all you can eat, dine in or carry out. Pork only is $7 per pound.

The menu, along with the hog, includes baked beans, coleslaw, hot dogs, desserts and drinks.

A double-elimination corn hole tournament starts at 1:30 p.m., with registration ending at 1:15 p.m. Cost is $30 per team.

First-place prize is 50/50.

For a 50/50 drawing, six tickets can be purchased for $5, or $1 a ticket.

All proceeds will be used for equipment, training and fire and rescue needs.

Celebration Harvest
The Celebration Harvest will be Oct. 31 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Silver Lake Memory Park.

Come get your picture taken. There is a best costume prize giveaway, or come grab your bag-o-treats.

The best costume will be judged by Silver Lake employees. Winners will be notified by mail.

Pictures can be obtained at the Silver Lake Town Office after Nov. 15.

Halloween Party
The Silver Lake Lions Club Halloween Party is scheduled for Oct. 30 at 6 p.m. at the Silver Lake Conservation Building.

There will be cash prizes for children and adults.

For children, cash prizes are: first, $20; second, $15; third, $12; fourth, $10; fifth, $8; sixth, $7; seventh, $5; and eighth, $4.

For adults, cash prizes are $20 for first place and $15 for second place.

There is an additional $5 prize each for the oldest and youngest in costume.

Refreshments will be served.

Trick-or-treat in Silver Lake is Oct. 31 from 6 to 8 p.m.

Fish Fry
A carry-out only fish, chicken and tenderloin fry is set for Oct. 13 from 4 to 7 p.m. or until sold out at the Silver Lake Conservation Building.

Cost is $8 per pound, and side dishes are available.

There also will be a bake sale.

The fry is sponsored by Silver Lake Lions Club. All proceeds go to local Lions projects.
