Historical Society Hosting Walkabout

Posted
Kosciusko County Historical Society is hosting Walkabout Hastings June 16 from 1 to 3 p.m.
The public is invited to explore the recreated miniature village of Hastings.
Buildings from the past include a schoolhouse, log cabin, general store and post office, hardware store, a little white church, a hunter’s cabin complete with animal skins and a barber shop, which also served as a dentist’s office.
There are pot-belly stoves and spinning wheels, pump organs and corn shellers, a little red caboose and horse-drawn fuel delivery wagon. There is something of interest for everyone and homemade ice cream will be available for a donation.
Hastings is located at the corner of CRs 425W and 1050N.
To get there from Warsaw, go north on Ind. 15 to CR 900N. Turn right (north) onto CR 425W and go up to CR 1050N.
The village is on the southeast corner of the junction on the Lee Beer farm.
The cost is $3 for non-society members, $2 for society members and $1 for children 12 and under.
For more information, call the Old Jail Museum at 574-269-1078, Wednesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event will be held rain or shine.
