Historic Hoosier Painting Collection On Display At The Dr. James Ford Historic Home

WABASH – Thirty-eight Hoosier paintings from the Robert L. and Ellen E. Haan Collection are currently on display at the Dr. James Ford Historic Home. The Hoosier Painting Collection, on display through January, features paintings by Indianaartists ranging in dates from the 19th Century through the early 20th Century. The paintings are grouped throughout the home by the Hoosier Group, Richmond School and the Brown County Art Colony. The exhibit includes paintings by such artists as T.C. Steele, J. Ottis Adams, Homer Davisson and William Kaeser. Many of the paintings depict life in early Indiana featuring landscapes, farm life and portraits. The Haan collection is the largest collection of Indiana art in the world. Another exhibit of Haan paintings is currently on display at the Indiana State Museum in Indianapolis.The Dr. James Ford Historic Home is open Wednesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Sunday, noon to 5pm.
