NAPPANEE – Hilda May Strang, 100, formerly of Nappanee, died at 2:07 p.m. May 25, 2011, in Miller’s Merry Manor, Wakarusa.
She was born Jan. 13, 1911, in Bourbon, to Henry and Katherine Miller Watkins. On April 5, 1929, she married Paul “Fred” Strang, who died Sept. 5, 1975.
A lifetime area resident, she attended Bourbon Schools and was a member of First Brethren Church. She worked at Uline Manufacturing, Nappanee, for 28 years and also worked at the Brethren Service Center, Nappanee.
Surviving are a son, Robert J. (and spouse Carol) Strang, Syracuse; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; four sisters, Cleo Brown, Delores (and spouse Willard) Klotz and Phyllis (and spouse Robert) Blosser, all of Nappanee, and June Ganshorn, Etna Green; three brothers, Dale (and spouse Mim) Watkins, Etna Green, and Ernest (and spouse Eleanor) Watkins and Max (and spouse Eleanor) Watkins, all of Bourbon. She was preceded in death by a daughter, a son, three sisters and three brothers.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First Brethren Church with the Rev. Tom Schiefer officiating, assisted by the Rev. Bart Shaw. Burial will be in Stony Point Cemetery.
Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee, and one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the church.
