Lakeland Christian Boys Soccer Wins At Tippecanoe Valley

AKRON – Lakeland Christian’s Parker Stewart scored three goals to lead the Cougars to a 3-2 non-conference boys soccer win at Tippecanoe Valley Thursday night.

Stewart scored the winning goal. on a penalty kick in the 76th minute.

Arturo Dominguez and Xavier Armentia scored goals for Valley, who led 2-1 after Armentia’s goal in the 44th minute.

Valley (1-12) plays a non-conference match at Winamac on Saturday. Lakeland Christian (6-8) travels to Culver Academies Tuesday.



Lady Cougars Victorious

BREMEN – Anna Reimink and Tori Calizo each had a hat trick for Lakeland Christian in its 6-0 non-conference girls soccer win at Bremen Thursday.

Reimink scored twice in the first five minutes of the match, and Calizo scored twice within four minutes at the mid-point of the first half to stake the Lady Cougars to a 4-0 lead at intermission.

“I love the way the team bounced back after a heart-breaking loss on Tuesday, losing the game in the last minute,” Lady Cougar coach Nat Raber said. “Bremen played with a high line, trapping us offside 12 times, but it was a double-edged sword as we had quite a few breakaways and scored on five of them.

“We had more chances that we didn’t capitalize on, but I’m not disappointed at all with our effort and the result.”

Now 4-5 overall, Lakeland Christian will host Maconaquah in a non-conference match Saturday morning.



Tigers Fall To Goshen

Blake Burns score a game-tying goal for Warsaw, but Goshen scored what proved to be the winning goal in the RedHawks’ 2-1 Northern Lakes Conference boys soccer win over the host Tigers Thursday night.

“Overall, the boys played hard and competed well against a top-10 team,” Tiger coach Frank Courtois said.

Goshen won the junior varsity game 3-0 over Warsaw.

The Tigers fell to 8-5-2 overall and 2-3 in the conference. They will play at Wawasee on Saturday.



Warriors Win Road Match

LAGRANGE – Wawasee had goals from four difference players, two in each half, in its 4-0 non-conference boys soccer road win over the Lakeland Lakers Thursday.

Ryan Edington had the first goal for the Warriors, off an assist by Dylan DeWitt. Ethan Carey added the other first-half goal, assisted by Chris Pena.

DeWitt scored off another Pena assist, and then Pena closed out the scoring with a goal off an assist by Eric Yankosky.

Now 5-4-3, Wawasee hosts Warsaw in a Northern Lakes Conference match at Warrior Field Saturday.



Lady Warriors Blanked

SYRACUSE – Plymouth beat Wawasee 7-0 in a Northern Lakes Conference girls soccer match Thursday at Warrior Field.

Graceanne Kerlin had seven saves for the Lady Warriors.

Wawasee, 3-10 overall and 0-4 in the conference, will host Warsaw Saturday. Kickoff is scheduled for 11:30 a.m., and the boys match between the two schools will follow.
