LCA Earns Victory Over Wabash

WINONA LAKE – Jessica Slone and Anna Reimink scored two goals each for Lakeland Christian in its 6-4 non-conference girls soccer win over visiting Wabash Monday.

Tori Calizo and Lauren Starrett also scored goals for the Lady Cougars, who dominated possession from the outset, according to head coach Nat Raber.

“I challenged the girls not to give up a goal in the first five minutes of the game which seems to be our Achilles’ heel. They responded incredibly. The first 20 minutes of the game was probably the best they played all season with the sustained pressure and ball control.

“We had four girls score tonight, which is great to see.  We hit a couple posts early on in the game as well. After playing a game where we looked like we were running in water verses Trinity, the girls did a great job of playing fast and controlling the game.”

Next up for the Lady Cougars is a home match with Peru on Saturday.

Squires Play To Draw

NORTH MANCHESTER – Eric Morales scored a goal for Manchester, assisted by Caleb Stout, in the Squires’ 1-1 non-conference boys soccer draw with visiting Oak Hill Monday.

Manchester will be off for a week before visiting Lakeland Christian Sept. 19.

Lady ‘Cats Blanked

SOUTH WHITLEY – Fort Wayne’s Wayne High School shutout Whitko 10-0 in a non-conference girls soccer match Monday.

The Lady Wildcats resume Three Rivers Conference play Wednesday, hosting Manchester.
