AKRON — The Tippecanoe Valley boys tennis team posted a 4-1 Three Rivers Conference home win over Whitko Tuesday evening.
Improving their season record to 5-7, the Vikings got wins from all three singles players, including Nick Kindig (No. 1), Alex Newman (No. 2) and Tanner Neeley (No. 3). On the doubles courts, Valley’s tandem of Derek Cunningham and Isaac Shewman were victorious on the No. 2 court.
Whitko’s individual win came from the No. 1 doubles team of Blake Castle and Seth Patrick. Whitko is back in TRC action today at home against Wabash, while Valley’s next match is Thursday at Manchester.
BOYS CROSS COUNTRY Tuesday in Syracuse The Wawasee boys cross country team suffered two Northern Lakes Conference losses Tuesday at home. On the day, Wawasee’s Reid Stichter took first place (16:51) and Adam Doll placed third (17:18), but the squad fell 27-28 to NorthWood and 24-32 to Concord. The Wawasee Warriors will be at Saturday’s Culver Academies Invitational.
Tuesday in Akron Placing five runners in the top 10 Tuesday at home, the Tippecanoe Valley boys cross country team got wins over North Miami and Taylor. Valley finished the meet with 34 points, followed by North Miami’s 40 and Taylor’s 50. North Miami’s Braden Timmons won the race in 18:41, while Valley’s top finisher was Brandon Maull, who placed fourth in 19:57. The Vikings will be at Saturday’s New Haven Invitational.

GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY Tuesday in Syracuse The Wawasee girls cross country team got a 27-30 win over Concord Tuesday at home, but fell to NorthWood 28-28, losing on a sixth-runner time. NorthWood’s Cynthia Medina took first place in the race, winning in a time of 19:04, while Wawasee’s Courtney Linnemeier, Bre Robinson and Jen Slabaugh finished second, third and fourth, respectively. The Lady Warriors will be at Saturday’s Culver Academies Invitational.

GIRLS SOCCER Tuesday in Middlebury The only bright spot for the Wawasee girls soccer team at Northridge was senior Mallory Rondeau’s 16th goal of the season, as the Lady Warriors fell 8-1. The Northern Lakes Conference loss leaves Wawasee with a 2-9-1 record, 0-3 in the NLC. The Lady Warriors return to conference action Thursday, hosting the Plymouth Lady Pilgrims.

VOLLEYBALL Tuesday in Wabash After falling behind 2-0 in their Three Rivers Conference road match at Wabash, the Whitko volleyball team won the next two games, but fell in the fifth, falling to 3-14 on the season. In the loss, Whitko was led by Karissa Olinske’s 15 kills and 18 digs, while Taylor Zwick posted four blocks. The Lady Wildcats are at Churubusco Thursday.
