WABASH — The Manchester boys basketball team came close, but fell just short of getting its first win of the season Friday at Southwood. In the Three Rivers Conference opener for both teams, the Southwood Knights defeated Manchester 61-58, despite Derek Self’s 20 points and Logan Brunn’s 19 for the Squires. Connor McLaughlin also netted 12 points for the Squires, who fall to 0-5 and 0-1 in the TRC. Manchester’s next game is Dec. 29 in the opening round of the Wabash Tournament, held at Northfield High School, against the Wabash Apaches.
