Warsaw Swimmers Swept By Northridge In NLC Meet
Perennial Northern Lakes Conference swimming power Northridge swept the Warsaw teams Thursday, with the Lady Raiders winning 118-68 and the boys team beating the Tigers 113.5-62.5.
Highlights for the Lady Tigers were the 50 freestyle, where Brenna Morgan won, Olivia Herman was third and Laurel Moeller was fourth, and the 200 freestyle relay team of Herman, Moeller, Delaney Wihebrink and Morgan won by .17 seconds over the Lady Raiders.
The Tiger boys also finished 1-3-4 in the 50 free. Alex Cox was the winner, Ian Deming was third and Trent Rapp fourth. Nick Zogbi and Matt Hastings were first and third, respectively, in the 100 backstroke.
Commenting about the boys’ competition, Warsaw head coach Anthony DeBrota said “this was a good meet on an individual basis. We just didn’t have enough depth to hang with Northridge.”
On the Lady Tigers, DeBrota said “they stuck with Northridge and we are happy with that. We got some personal bests, and we were able to get a win in the 200 freestyle relay. Our turns were a bit slow, and our kicks could be stronger and faster.”
Warsaw continues NLC competition on Saturday with a three-way meet with Elkhart Memorial at Goshen.
