DUNLAP -ÊThe losing streak reached by Wawasee's boys basketball team reached nine games as the Warriors fell at Concord 76-65 on Friday.

Concord beat Wawasee despite missing its best player in 6-foot-10 center John Morningstar, who averages 15 points and 11 rebounds per game. Morningstar is sidelined with a separated shoulder.

Wawasee falls to 3-11 overall and 0-5 in the Northern Lakes Conference, while Concord improves to 8-6 overall and 2-3 in the NLC.

The Minutemen won the game in the first quarter. Wawasee outscored Concord 53-50 over the final quarters, but it wasn't enough as Concord owned a 26-12 lead after the opening quarter. Concord drubbed Wawasee in rebounding, winning the battle 32-17.

Five Concord players scored in double digits. Matt Rider scored 17 to lead Concord, and Jeremy Lugbill added 13, Micah Staley 12, Steve Warr 12 and Tom Martin 11.

Brent Doty and Scott Beasley each scored 16 for Wawasee. Andrew Packer, who entered the game as Wawasee's leading scorer at 12.4 points per game, scored just six.

Wawasee had an efficient shooting night, hitting 21 of 34 field goals (62 percent). Problem was, Concord had 14 more attempts and finished 26 of 48 (54 percent) from the field.

And then there were two.

When Oak Hill's boys basketball team defeated Whitko 87-57 in a Three Rivers Conference game, the Golden Ealges stayed tied for first place in the conference with Tippecanoe Valley. Southwood and Manchester lost Friday night, breaking the four-way tie for the top spot.

After a high scoring first quarter for both teams, Oak Hill held a 23-21 lead over Whitko. By the end of the game, theOak Hill turned that two points into 30 to get the victory.

Oak Hill's Ty henderson broke out for 28 points, while teammate Marcus Hall poured in 24 and Lance Strange had 15.

Alex Frantz led the WIldcat scoring attack withh 20 points, while Josh Hoffman added 11 for Whitko.

Oak Hill improves to 8-4 overall and 4-1 in TRC play, while Whitko falls to 7-6 overall and 2-3 in the TRC. Whitko host Bishop Dwenger Tuesday.

After falling behind 12-10 after the first quarter of play, Triton exploded for 21 points in the second stanza while holding Jimtown to just nine.

Triton outscored the Jimmies 34-26 in the second half to get the win.

Tyson Blackford led the Trojans with 22 points on 8-of-11 shooting from the field and 3-of-4 shooting fromthe free throw line. Jim Read added 13 points, while Jake Burnett and Joey Potter added nine points each.

Triton improves to 8-3 overall and 3-1 in NSC play, while Jimtown falls to 3-8 overall and 1-3 in the NSC.
