High key photography uses unnaturally bright lighting to blow out most or all harsh shadows and reduce the lighting ratio in an image. High key methods were originally developed because early film and TV cameras couldn't properly display high-contrast ratios. More recently, high key has developed into a stylistic choice. This scene of a pair of anglers – surrounded by recent early morning fog while fishing on the southeast side of Winona Lake – provided a natural high key effect.
