Herman A. 'Herm; Ritenour

Herman A. “Herm” Ritenour, 81, died at 8:50 p.m. Jan. 13, 2016, in Peabody Retirement Community, North Manchester.
He was born May 12, 1934, in Wabash County, to Lester and Lora Hoover Ritenour. On May 16, 1954, in Whitley County, he married Bonnie W. Wiley, who survives in Warsaw.
He grew up on the home farm and was a 1952 graduate of Chester Township High School, Wabash County. He moved to Warsaw from North Manchester in 1964
He spent a few years at different jobs – including driving truck at Farm Bureau Elevator, Peabody School Furniture factory and hauling milk; and Zimmer for 36 years retiring from its distribution department. After retirement he continued working part time. He had an independent delivery service for seven years, taking emergency items to hospitals and airports, delivered rental trucks and used cars covering most of Indiana.
He was a member of Walnut Creek United Methodist Church where he served as past chairman, was on the board of trustees, sang in the choir for a number of years, and was an usher for several years; was an IU and Notre Dame fan and a die-hard Cubs fan; delivered blood for Red Cross and delivered Meals on Wheels; enjoyed being a part of a Euchre Club, square dancing and traveling. He also enjoyed making sawdust in the woodshop where he made toys for grandsons and underprivileged kids. His favorite thing was spending time with his wife and family.
Also surviving are a son, Rod (and spouse Anne) Ritenour, North Manchester; five grandchildren: Anthony (and spouse Crystal) Ritenour, Louisville, Ky.; Michael Ritenour, Wabash; Troy (and spouse Rhonda) Custer, Todd (and spouse Heather) Custer and Angela Custer, all of North Manchester; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Lora Ritenour in 1958; two sisters, Esther Wine and Edna White; and a brother, Cecil Ritenour,
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw, with Pastor Steve Ailes, Walnut Creek United Methodist Church, Warsaw, officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw
Calling is from 2 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
