Herbert J. Morgan, 82, Noblesville, passed away March 28, 2015, at Riverview Hospital, Noblesville.
He was born May 31, 1932, in Herkimer, N.Y., to Elmer E. and Helen R. James Morgan Sr.. On July 11, 1959, he married Joan K. McAnelly, who survives.
He was a former Marion and Silver Lake resident. He was a longtime educator serving Marion High School for 28 years and Grand Haven High School , Mich., for three years.
He received his bachelor of science degree from Hope College, Holland, Mich., where he was also a member of Phi Beta Nu fraternity; a master of science degree from Penn State University; and a master of education degree from Ball State University. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, Westfield; served on the board of directors for Via Credit Union for 34 years; and was an avid ham radio operator since 1977 with the call sign, W9GBH.
He was a U.S. Army veteran.
Also surviving are three children, Beth (and spouse Bob) Keck; Carol (and spouse Gerry) Bailey and Evan (and spouse Debra) Morgan; a sister, Myrtle Butler, Ballston Lake, N.Y.; a sister-in-law, Florence Morgan, Clinton, N.Y.; eight grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Elmer E. Morgan Jr. and Emery Morgan; and a sister, Martha Thomas.
There will be no public visitation or services.
Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Services and Crematory, Lahm Chapel, Pendleton, are in charge of arrangements.
