SOUTH WHITLEY - Henry Sizemore, 96, of South Whitley, died at 1:43 a.m. Sept. 1, 2008, in Peabody Retirement Community, North Manchester, where he was a resident since Aug. 5.

He was born May 24, 1912, in Floyd County, Ky., to Butler and Arie McGuire Sizemore. On March 14, 1936, he married Bess Hubbard, who died June 25, 1995.

Moving to South Whitley from Floyd County in 1960, he was a coal miner for many years and retired from Farm Bureau in 1974. He was a member of United Mine Workers and UAW.

Surviving are two sons, Jim (and spouse Connie) Sizemore, Anderson, and William Sizemore, South Whitley; six daughters: Sue (and spouse Terry) Hann, Louise (and spouse Buck) Rodman and Henrietta (and spouse Robert) Leonard, all of Wabash; Blanche (and spouse Mike) Kilander and Dora (and spouse Bruce) Gable, all of South Whitley; and Janet (and spouse Rodney) Schilling, North Manchester; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson. He was preceded in death by a daughter, three brothers and four sisters.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Miller Chapel, South Whitley, with the Rev. J.P. Freeman officiating. Burial will be in South Whitley Cemetery.

Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
