NAPPANEE - Helen Virginia Buss, 95, of 437 Hickory Lane, Nappanee, died at 4:22 p.m. March 8, 2011, in Elkhart General Hospital.
She was born Dec. 3, 1915, in Teegarden, to James Milburn and Cora Brunner Roelke. On April 17, 1937, in Teegarden, she married Russell H. Buss, who died Aug. 14, 1992.
A lifetime area resident, she graduated from South Bend Business College. She was a homemaker and a farm wife. She formerly worked at Studebaker, South Bend; was a bookkeeper at Coppes Kitchens, Nappanee, and Turks, Bremen; and was a secretary at Nappanee High School. She was a member of Nappanee United Methodist Church and two bridge clubs and a 50-year member of Order of the Eastern Star.
Surviving are a son, Roger (and spouse Mary) Buss, Walkerton; a grandson; and a great-grandson. She was preceded in death by a sister and three brothers.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee, with the Rev. Janet McFall-Brown officiating. Burial will be in South Union Cemetery.
Calling is from 2 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with an Order of the Eastern Star memorial service at 8 p.m.
