NAPPANEE – Helen Ruff Pettigoue, 82, of 705 W. Centennial St., Nappanee, died at 12:35 a.m. July 11, 2011, in Bremen Health Care, after a lengthy illness. She was a resident there since January.

She was born Jan. 13, 1929, in Nappanee, to Eugene and Dorothy Manwarren Plotner Davis. On May 30, 1947, she married Richard “Pete” Ruff, who died Jan. 12, 1968. In August 1970, she married Edward Pettigoue, who died in October 1983.

She was a homemaker and formerly worked at Vitreous, Nappanee. She also did healthcare in the Nappanee area for 10 years. She was a former member of the Nappanee Order of Eastern Star, attended Missionary Church and was a member of the Shriner’s Auxiliary.

Surviving are two daughters, Rita (and spouse Conrad) Tucker, Nappanee, and Pamela Metzler, Elkhart; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and three sisters: Betty Canen, Lansing, Mich.; Shirley Landin, Jensen Beach, Fla.; and Elsie (and spouse Ralph) Snyder, Middlebury.

Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Nappanee Missionary Church with Pastor Norm Reimer officiating. Burial will be in Union Center Cemetery.

Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the church.

Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee, is in charge of arrangements.
