Helen May Wise, 93, of Claypool, died at 11 p.m. May 26, 2013, in her residence.
She was born May 18, 1920, in Fort Wayne, to Perry Earl and Sarah Catherine Trevey Burch. On Dec. 25, 1951, in Chesterton, she married Wilbur E. Wise, who died Feb. 12, 1988.
She was a 1939 graduate of Hammond High School. She lived most of her life Kosciusko County and was a homemaker.
She was a former member of American Legion Auxiliary 16, Hammond, for more than 75 years; Tri-Chem Instructor; Calumet Band Boosters, Gary; and Cedar Lake Conservation Club; and was involved with Atwood Home Study. She attended Christ United Church, Hammond.  
She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed being with them. She was caring and enjoyed doing for her family and others.  She loved to read, especially Western novels and historical reads.
Surviving are a daughter, Kathryn (and spouse Loren) Melton, Atwood; two granddaughters, Sarah (and spouse Allen) Marsh and Laura (and spouse Shane) Herring, all of Warsaw; a grandson, David E. Melton, Warsaw; and three great-grandchildren, Jordan,  Kyleigh and Elijah Herring, all of Warsaw. She also was preceded in death by her parents; a sister,   Betty Jane Cushman; two infants sons, Peter and Kevin Wise; and an infant brother.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw, officiated by the Rev. Stormy Scherer-Berry of Bourbon First United Methodist Church. A graveside service will be at noon Saturday at Prairie Grove Cemetery, Fort Wayne.
Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
