Helen Marie Sabo

Helen Marie Sabo, 88, formerly of Etna Green, passed away on Jan. 1, 2026, in the care of Autumn Ridge Rehab in Wabash, where she had been a resident.
She was born on Oct. 26, 1937, in Dexter, Ohio, to William “Doug” Ellsworth Chaney and Maggie Belle McLaughlin Chaney. Helen married Jimmie Lee Sabo on Oct. 26, 1958, in Trimble, Ohio. They were blessed with 52 years together until his passing on Nov. 1, 2010.
Helen worked at Kosciusko Community Hospital in Warsaw from the opening day in central supply until her retirement. She actually had the privilege to open the hospital doors for the first time to the public. Over the many years she worked at KCH she made many lifelong friends and many cherished memories. She had also worked at Mason Health Care in Warsaw and enjoyed the time spent with the residents and staff. Always the social butterfly, Helen enjoyed striking up a conversation with anyone she met on her journey throughout her life. Friends became family. She enjoyed listening to music while cooking something delicious for anyone who might stop by. She loved her friends and family with an open heart. One of her favorite pastimes was traveling with her daughter and son-in-law, and was always ready for the next adventure. She especially enjoyed her visits to Carolina Beach, N.C., and Nashville, Tenn.
Helen simply enjoyed living life, and will lovingly be remembered by her daughter, Mary Ann (James) Marshall, Burket; two sons, Jimmie L. (Connie) Sabo Jr., Mentone; Terry L. Sabo, Mentone; nine grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her brother-in-law, Roy Thomas, Silver Lake; sister-in-law, Anna Mae Venoy, McConnelsville, Ohio; and her special cousin, Cheryl Byers, Trimble, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, O’Dell Marshington; two sisters, Mary Louise Pickens, Carolyn Kay Thomas; and her daughter-in-law, Rita Sabo.
Helen’s life will be celebrated privately by her family. Arrangements were entrusted to Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw.
