AKRON - Helen M. Foster, 88, died at 6:35 p.m. Nov. 28, 2009, in Life Care Center of Rochester, where she resided.
She was born July 5, 1921, in Cedar Grove, W.Va., to Allen and Marjorie Bannister Bland. On June 26, 1942, in Charleston, W.Va., she married Edgar A. Foster, who died March 9, 1998.
She was a homemaker and worked at General Tire, Wabash.
Surviving are a daughter, Diana Johnson, Marion; eight grandchildren: Tonja (and spouse Brian) Lemler, Tippecanoe; Jennifer (and spouse Arcenio) Rumbaoa, Indianapolis; and Steve, Tina Christina, Rachel, Ryan and Anthony; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Margaret (and spouse Ralph) Kirby, Crestline, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Cox, who died in 1966; a son, Paul Foster, who died in October 1995; a granddaughter; a grandson; and two brothers, Junior and Claude Bland.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Hartzler Funeral Home, 305 W. Rochester St., Akron, with Pastor Matt Elliott officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawns Cemetery, Wabash.
Calling is one hour prior to the service Thursday at the funeral home.
