AKRON – Helen Louise Hill, 86, Peabody Retirement Community of North Manchester, and formerly of Akron, Rochester and Peru, died at 11:15 a.m. March 22, 2015, in Lutheran Hospital of Fort Wayne.
She was born Jan. 24, 1929, in Akron, to Ralph Waldo and Marie Berger Whittenberger. On July 27, 1947, at her parents’ home, she married Guy Jr. Hill, who died Sept. 8, 2013.
She was a secretary and a bank teller. She was an Akron High School graduate. She and her husband were members of the Saturday Morning Breakfast Club. She enjoyed playing cards and discussing politics. She was most happy spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving are two daughters, Jane (and spouse Stephen) Henson, Galena, Ohio, and Linda (and spouse Paul) Studebaker, Akron; a son, John E. Hill, Lafayette, and fiance, Kate Mindrum, Savoy, Ill.; eight grandchildren: Christopher, Kevin, Tadd, Brian, Bekah, Tim, Jennifer and Julie; and 23 great-grandchildren. She also was  preceded in death by her parents; a great-granddaughter; daughter-in-law Rebecca Hill; two brothers, Joseph and Donald Whittenberger; and a sister, Mary Ann Cox.
Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Hartzler Funeral Home, 305 W. Rochester St., Akron, with the Rev. Sue Babovec and Ted Cox officiating. Burial is in Akron Cemetery.
Calling is from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
