Helen G. WhetstoneMENTONE – Helen G. Whetstone, 91, of Mentone, passed at 1:45 a.m., Sunday, Oct. 13, 2019, in her daughter’s residence.
She was born on Aug. 10, 1928, in Bremen to Howard R. and Mabel L. Hepler Kinney. She was married on Sept. 4, 1948, to James M. Whetstone, who preceded on Aug. 9, 1994.
Helen was a homemaker. She was a longtime member of the Mentone United Methodist Church. She was known for her cooking and baking, especially her cookies and fried chicken. She enjoyed reading and gardening.
She is survived by daughters, Cindy Spitler, Mentone; Peg and husband Jake Stutzman, Rockingham, Va.; daughter-in-law, Debbie Whetstone, Silver Lake; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Veloyce and husband Hedrick Brown, Kokomo; Connie and husband Howard Julian, Pierceton; Bonnie and husband Charles Brallier, Silver Lake.
She was preceded in death by husband, Jim Whetstone; infant sister, Kathleen Kinney; sister, Betty Hartman; son, John Bradley Whetstone in September 2019; son-in-law, Terry K. Spitler; daughter-in-law, Debbie S. Whetstone.
Visitation hours will be from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m., Friday, Oct. 18 at King Memorial Home, 101 North Tucker St., Mentone.
The funeral services will take place at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 19 at the funeral home with Pastor Jason Rice officiating. The burial will take place following the service in the Mentone Cemetery, Mentone.
