WABASH - Helen E. Grossnickle, 91, formerly of Wabash and North Manchester, died at 9:05 a.m. April 7, 2009, in Miller's Merry Manor, Warsaw.
She was born Aug. 5, 1917, in Berne, to Gilbert and Henrietta Winteregg Hirschy. On Feb. 7, 1942, in North Manchester, she married Dr. Harry Grossnickle, who died May 24, 2006.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Tri Kappa Sorority, Women's Club House and was involved with the Wabash Valley Music Association, all in Wabash.
Surviving are two sons, Alan E. Grossnickle (and Peggy McCallen), Warsaw, and Ted R. (and spouse Marcia) Grossnickle, Franklin; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three sisters: Betty (and spouse Roy) Benson, Portland, Ore.; Ruthann Bubp, Fort Wayne; and Dorothea (and spouse Roy) Leimkuehler, Florida; and two brothers, Dale (and spouse Carol) Hirschy, Sarasota, Fla., and Don (and spouse Wilma) Hirschy, Decatur. She was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
Services will be at 11:30 a.m. April 25 at First United Methodist Church with Pastor David Cross officiating. Entombment will be in Chapel of Remembrance Mausoleum at Memorial Lawns Cemetery, Wabash.
Calling is from 10 to 11:30 a.m. April 25 at the church.
