Warsaw native Randy Heisler was recently named the head coach for the Indiana University women's track and field team. Heisler replaces Roseann Wilson, who resigned to move with her family to South Carolina.

Heisler has been an assistant coach with the men's and women's programs for the past nine years, working with the throwers. During his tenture, Heisler's throwers have won 22 Big Ten titles and earned All-American status 31 times.

Heisler himself has still been competing in the discus since graduating from the University of Indianapolis in 1984, earning a spot on the 1998 U.S. Olympic team. In 1996, he was a U.S. Olympic Trial finalist.

At the University of Indianapolis, Heisler won three NCAA Div. II national titles and in 1994, he was inducted into the Indiana High School Track & Field Hall of Fame.

Heisler has a wife, Tammy, and three children, Lindsey, Kiley and Cameron.
