Heart Of Gold Awards Honor Volunteer Spirit

Posted

Good work often goes unnoticed.

But the Heart of Gold award tries to correct that problem.

The Kosciusko County Community Foundation wants to identify and provide recognition to "everyday" citizens who touch the hearts of others.

Heart of Gold recipients are defined as those people who give of themselves unselfishly to serve others, collectively or individually, with volunteer acts of service and/or kindness beyond the call of duty. Any person, regardless of age, who enhances the quality of life of someone else is eligible to be nominated.

Such acts of service may go largely unnoticed and include, but are not limited to: helping senior citizens, helping disadvantaged persons, working to improve the quality of education, expanding recreational and cultural opportunities, working with children, protecting the environment, building jobs in the community, promoting public safety and numerous other acts of kindness.

Completed forms should be sent to: Heart of Gold Awards, Kosciusko County Community Foundation Inc., 102 E. Market St., Warsaw, IN 46580.

Deadline for nominations is March 4.

Nomination forms are available at the Foundation office or online at www.kcfoundation.org

In the nomination, describe how the nominee has touched your life. One additional attachment may be included to support the nomination, including a letter or newspaper clipping. Limit nominations to 500 words.

At the Heart of Gold reception March 22 at Center Lake Pavilion, Warsaw, each nominee will be recognized and will receive a heart-shaped pin acknowledging their Heart of Gold. Each nominee will have the opportunity to direct a grant to the qualified charitable organization of his or her choice. The grant will be made in their name and honor.

Last year, $6,700 was granted in honor of Heart of Gold recipients to the nonprofit organizations of their choice.
