Health Dept. Says No New COVID-19 Cases, Immunization Clinic Makes ChangesIn its daily announcement on Friday, the Kosciusko County Health Department said it received no new cases of COVID-19 as of noon Friday.

This keeps Kosciusko County at 36 positive cases, with 19 cases that have recovered and one death.

The Health Department also announced the immunization clinic is making a “drastic transition” from a walk-in clinic to an appointment-based clinic.

"During these challenging times, Kosciusko County Health Department Immunization Clinic is open but will be transitioning to appointments. This will work to ensure safety and limit the time and number of people in the clinic, as well as the K21 building,” according to a news release from the KCHD.

Appointments can be made by calling 574-267-7028 or 574-372-3516. Have your insurance information available when you call to set up an appointment.

Bring only the child/individual being vaccinated. Individuals who do not need to be present will need to remain outside of the K21 Health Services Pavilion.

The Pavilion is operating with limited hours, 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Most appointments will be scheduled on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays; but there is limited availability of Tuesdays and Thursdays, according to the release.

The Health Department also asked the community to fill out an online survey over the last couple of weeks.

In an analysis of that survey, the KCHD said the most commonly reported symptoms were cough at 27%, headache at 24%, sore throat at 23%, runny nose at 21% and muscle aches at 18%.

Twenty-two percent of those who took the survey said they know someone that was denied testing.

Ninety-six percent of respondents with an underlying medical condition reported experiencing COVID-19-like symptoms. Four out of every 10 respondents reported wearing a mask usually or always in public, while 12% of respondents have sought medical care since Jan. 1 for COVID-19 symptoms. Two out of every 5 respondents believe they have or are unsure if they have had COVID-19 since Jan. 1.

The average response for how well individuals believe they have followed the stay-at-home order was 8, with 1 being the least complaint and 10 being the most compliant.

At the state level, the Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) on Friday announced that 815 additional Hoosiers have been diagnosed with COVID-19 through testing at ISDH, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and private laboratories. That brings to 18,630 the total number of Indiana residents known to have the novel coronavirus following corrections to the previous day’s total.

A total of 1,062 Hoosiers have been confirmed to have died of COVID-19, an increase of 55 over the previous day following the removal of one duplication. Another 113 probable deaths have been reported. Probable deaths are those for which a physician listed COVID-19 as a contributing cause based on X-rays, scans and other clinical symptoms but for which no positive test is on record. Deaths are reported based on when data are received by ISDH and occurred over multiple days.

To date, 99,639 tests have been reported to ISDH, up from 94,998 on Thursday.

Marion County had the most new cases, at 246. Other counties with more than 10 new cases were Allen (31), Bartholomew (11), Cass (50), Clark (24), Dearborn (13), Greene (34), Hamilton (42), Hendricks (35), Jackson (20), Johnson (15), Lake (81), Montgomery (21), Orange (25), Shelby (12) and St. Joseph (11). The Lake County totals include results from East Chicago and Gary, which have their own health departments.

The complete list of counties with cases is included in the ISDH COVID-19 dashboard at coronavirus.in.gov. Cases are listed by county of residence. Private lab reporting may be delayed and will be reflected in the map and count when results are received at ISDH. The dashboard will be updated at noon each day.

The dashboard also has been updated to make corrections based on updated information provided to ISDH.
