Heagy Headed To Indiana WesleyanWarsaw Community High School senior Sarah Heagy has signed a letter of intent to continue her basketball career at Indiana Wesleyan University. Heagy, an instrumental figure in the Warsaw Success the past two seasons, earned all Northern Lakes Conference recognition this year and was named to the ICGSA Academic All-State Honorable Mention squad. She was also a recipient of the Coaches’ Leadership Award for Tiger Basketball. With the senior center providing a solid inside presence this year, the Tigers had one of their better seasons in recent history, posting a 16-5 record that included a victory over then No. 1 ranked Penn, and a close loss to then No. 1 ranked Hamilton Southeastern. Heagy has not only been a standout on the basketball court for the Lady Tigers, she has also been a tremendous success for the Warsaw volleyball and track and field squads. In volleyball, Heagy helped anchor the front line for the Lady Tigers that went 25-8 overall. In track and field, she is currently one of the top shot put throwers in the area and hopes to return to the regional level again this year with a chance of reaching the state finals. Not only has Heagy been tremendous on the athletic fields — one of just a few seniors in the class of 2012 that are three-sport athletes — she has been outstanding in the classroom as well, earning a 10.87 GPA on a 12-point scale while enrolled in many honors and advanced placement courses, and she has been active with the Tiger Athletic Board throughout her career. At IWU, Heagy intends to major in Pediatric Nursing.
